Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed he was forced to withdraw Marcus Rashford during Manchester United’s victory over Brighton due to an injury concern.

England international Rashford fired home United’s equaliser on Sunday evening after former Red Devils forward Danny Welbeck gave Brighton an early lead.

Mason Greenwood sealed Manchester United’s comeback win with an 83rd-minute header but Rashford was already off the pitch having been replaced by Daniel James.

Speaking after the victory, Solskjaer confirmed Rashford was forced off with an injury but was unable to provide much of an update on the forward’s condition.

I’m not sure,‘ Solskjaer said when asked about Rashford. ‘He got caught with a tackle so he had to come off.

Let’s see how he goes again. Marcus doesn’t want to miss any games or any minutes, but he had to come off.

It’s one of them again. Your fingers are crossed and you hope he’s going to recover from it. He had to come off but he’s a tough one.

Rashford was a doubt for the Brighton clash and now appears to be in a race to regain his fitness in time for Manchester United’s Europa League quarter-final tie with Granada, with the first leg taking place on Thursday.

Before United’s win against Brighton, Solskjaer confirmed Red Devils forward Anthony Martial could miss the rest of the season after suffering an injury with France during the international break.

‘Losing Anthony for what might be the rest of the season is very disappointing,’ said Solskjaer. ‘Reports from France were that it wasn’t serious but it looks a bad one.’
