Khabib Nurmagomedov predicts that he will one day lose his spectacular unbeaten record, while also blasting long-time rival Tony Ferguson as ‘finished’.

The Eagle defends his UFC lightweight title against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 on 24 October as he looks to extend his stunning professional record to 29-0.

The 32-year-old is 12-0 in the UFC and not come close to defeat since his promotional debut in 2012.

The Russian grappler has spoken of fighting just twice more and planning to retire at 30-0, but he also admits that he could face defeat at some point in his career as he, like all other fighters, face the prospect of declining skills.

Khabib was talking about Ferguson with this in mind, as he suggested El Cucuy is ‘finished’ after his defeat to Gaethje in May.

Ferguson and Khabib have been scheduled to fight five times and it has been cancelled on each and every occasion, with the Dagestani now predicting that we will never see the much-anticipated scrap between two lightweight greats.

‘Nobody can be the same for long time,’ Khabib told ESPN. ‘Nobody. Not Tony Ferguson. Not Khabib. One day, somebody beat you.

‘God doesn’t give nobody power, speed, reaction, and mental everything in one level always. One day it’s going to go down, and his day (Tony Ferguson) has come in May. Tony Ferguson is finished.

‘Now he’s going to come back and somebody’s going to beat him again. When you take damage like this, you’re never going to be the same, never ever, even if you’re Tony Ferguson, he took too much damage.

‘I like Tony Ferguson but he’s stupid guy, this is what I think. He keep talking about me. Why are you talking about me? Justin Gaethje just smashed your face, smash you everywhere. Why are you talking about me?’

Ferguson has not given hope on a meeting with Khabib, claiming that he will see the champion soon.

El Cucuy tweeted: ‘@TeamKhabib @Justin_Gaethje I’ll see you soon, Fathead. You Can’t Run Well & Conditioning Sucks. Only reason you feel bad is because you did bad. I Own You, Chicken # 200k & 20Pushups For The Homeless. U Two Are Managed By @AliAbdelaziz00 I’ll Make It A Point To See You Both.’

On the possibility of ever facing Ferguson again, Khabib said: ‘Maybe if he comes back, but I don’t think it’s possible.’

Ferguson has been offered a fight with Khabib’s stablemate Islam Makhachev at UFC 254 as a late replacement for Rafael dos Anjos who tested positive for Covid-19, with manager Ali Abdelaziz offering El Cucuy an extra $100k to take the bout.

Ferguson is not interested, though, tweeting in reply to the offer: ‘F**k your bribe.’
