Sergio Aguero has given Chelsea a huge transfer advantage as he wants to remain in the Premier League after he leaves Manchester City, according to reports.

The Premier League leaders announced earlier this week that Aguero’s contract will not be renewed and the striker will leave the club at the end of the season.

The 32-year-old, who joined City for £35 million in 2011, has established himself as one of the Premier League’s best-ever strikers and is in high demand ahead of the summer window.

Barcelona are understood to be keen on pairing Aguero with his Argentina teammate Lionel Messi, while Inter and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on signing the striker on a free transfer.

But according to MailOnline, Chelsea are in ‘prime position’ to sign Aguero at the end of the season as the City forward is ‘determined’ to continue playing in the Premier League.

The report also claims that Manchester United and Liverpool are not in the race for Aguero, while Chelsea are keen to bolster Thomas Tuchel’s attacking options in the summer window.

City, meanwhile, are set to hold talks with Mino Raiola and Erling Haaland’s father, Alfe-Inge, over a deal for the Borussia Dortmund striker.

Speaking about Aguero’s exit, Pep Guardiola said this week: ‘Sergio is irreplaceable.

‘I could say in terms of numbers he can be replaceable, it’s not easy when you see more than 360 games played and more than 250 goals, the amount of titles…

‘So it’s the legend, the best striker this club has ever had for this century through the years, but is irreplaceable in the souls, in the hearts, in the minds of our fans, of our people, of the players that played alongside him and all the managers who worked with him.

‘He’s a fantastic person, a human being, and I’m pretty sure if his mind is still aggressive like he is, he can extend his career longer and longer than maybe two or three or four or five years.

‘He helped us find a club organisation in a higher level. When he came here the club was in one level, and he helped to put the club in a higher level. And that’s why all the people are still here, and of course the fans always will be grateful.’
