Real Madrid are becoming increasingly confident of landing Kylian Mbappe this summer and are prepared to use Vinicius Jr. as bait to land the PSG star, according to reports.

The prolific striker only has just over a year left to run on his contract with the French champions and is believed to be considering testing himself elsewhere, with Real and Liverpool the two sides most heavily vying for his signature.

But PSG are still hoping to convince Mbappe to extend his stay and will demand a mammoth fee for the forward even though he will soon enter the final year of his contract.

Real have long been linked with Mbappe and, according to Spanish TV show El Chiringuito, are feeling very optimistic behind the scenes that this will be the year they finally land the World Cup winner.

The Spanish giants have also been linked with Erling Haaland and even met with both his father, former player Alf-Inge, and agent Mino Raiola last week as they target a new superstar frontman to lead their attack.

But Mbappe is regarded as the ‘much easier’ player for Real to land, with Haaland being chased by Barcelona, Chelsea and both Manchester clubs in want is expected to become a bidding war.

In addition, El Chiringuito also report that Real feel they can use winger Vinicius in any deal with PSG to reduce the overall cash value of the deal.

The Brazilian was chased by the Parisians before he moved to the Bernabeu and is still high on compatriot and PSG sporting director Leonardo’s transfer wish-list.

Despite tormenting Liverpool in the Champions League this week, netting a brace in their quarter-final first-leg win, there are some doubts over Vinicius’ ability at Real and he has yet to justify his billing and price tag.

The 20-year-old has only mustered eight goals in 73 La Liga appearances since joining Real and was slammed by his own teammate, Karim Benzema, earlier this season for a poor performance against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Mbappe, by contrast, is just two years older but has 71 goals in 75 Ligue 1 appearances for PSG while he has also netted 21 times in 34 Champions League outings, with Real convinced he can be their next big Galactico.
