Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof insists he’ll play through the pain barrier to feature for Sweden during the international break if he’s asked to do so.

The defender has been carrying a back injury in recent weeks and he struggled through United’s 3-1 win against Everton on Saturday having missed a Champions League defeat in Turkey just three days later with the issue.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hit out at the scheduling of Premier League fixtures following the win at Goodison Park and he was furious that Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford picked up injuries.

The Norwegian had been keen for Lindelof to sit out the international break but the Swede says he’s feeling better and will play for his country if he’s needed.

‘The back feels okay,’ Lindelof told Fotbollskanalen.

‘I’ve been having problems for a few weeks. I’ve struggled through the matches there’s been. It’s nice that I got a few days off now where there has only been treatment and I really tried to rest.

‘It felt good in training today. Hopefully there should be no problems. If they want me to play, I will try to play and see how it feels. Then after that we will see how the back will be.’

United take on West Brom at Old Trafford after the international break before embarking on a packed fixture list in the run-up to Christmas.

Solskjaer’s side will be looking to put a dismal start to the campaign behind them and their fixtures look more favourable on paper, having faced three of the top six in their first seven matches in the Premier League.
