Manchester United have reportedly identified Burnley’s Nick Pope and Brighton’s Robert Sanchez as potential David de Gea replacements ahead of the summer transfer window.

De Gea has made more than 400 appearances for the Red Devils since signing from Atletico Madrid in 2011, helping Man United win the Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup and EFL Cup.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will consider finally replacing De Gea this summer, however, and has earmarked Pope and Sanchez as potential targets, according to the Daily Star.

De Gea has come under scrutiny in recent seasons following a number of mistakes and, while he remains a top goalkeeper, Manchester United are prepared to offload him and sign a new first-choice shot-stopper for Solskjaer.

Dean Henderson has been waiting in the wings at Old Trafford but it is claimed there is a feeling within Old Trafford that he is still too inexperienced to be the club’s No 1.

The 23-year-old impressed on loan at Sheffield United last season and has largely impressed when given an opportunity for Man United this term, although his mistake cost the club in a 1-1 draw with Europa League rivals AC Milan last week.

England international Pope, 28, has won many admirers since becoming Burnley’s first-choice goalkeeper and Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on his situation at Turf Moor.

The Red Devils have also been impressed by Brighton’s Spanish shot-stopper Sanchez, however, and could raid their Premier League rivals this summer.

Asked about Manchester United’s transfer plans ahead of the summer window, Solskjaer said last week: ‘We’re always looking to improve our squad, of course we are. We’re always looking at better players, of course we are.’

Solskjaer’s Red Devils are currently second in the Premier League and face West Ham on Sunday night.
