Eric Bailly has revealed that he gave Amad Diallo a glowing reference to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before the winger joined Manchester United.

The 18-year-old was officially signed in a £37 million deal from Atalanta in January and was handed his first-team debut by Solskjaer last month.

On Thursday evening, Diallo scored his first goal for the club as United were held to a 1-1 draw by AC Milan in the Europa League at Old Trafford.

The winger is now pushing for a regular role in Solskjaer’s side as United navigate their way towards the end of the season.

And Bailly has revealed that he didn’t think twice about recommending his fellow Ivorian to the United manager.

‘I knew him before and I remember when manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer talked to me about the guy,’ Bailly told Sky Sports.

‘I know the guy, he’s very humble. He’s quiet, he doesn’t speak a lot.

‘For me, I didn’t think twice. I said to the boss, ‘yes, he’s a good guy, he’s got the talent’.

‘Just keep him and everyone will enjoy him for his talent.

‘I do everything for him… agent, big brother! It’s okay, I’m happy for him.’
