Owen Hargreaves described Marcus Rashford as ‘a blessing for Manchester United’ after their Europa League victory over Granada.

England international Rashford’s first-half opener set United on their way to a comfortable 2-0 win in the first leg of their quarter-final tie.

Bruno Fernandes slotted home a late penalty for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, who now have one foot in the Europa League semi-finals as they look to finish the 2020-21 campaign in style.

Hargreaves, speaking to BT Sport after the match, said: ‘Marcus Rashford has been absolutely fantastic, he’s been magic for Manchester United.

‘He looks like he prefers that position off the left-hand side where he can run into space. He just gives Manchester United so much.

‘His touch is good, he can run in behind or come short. Marcus is a blessing for this football club.’

If Manchester United see off Granada at Old Trafford next week, they will face either Ajax or Roma in the semi-finals, with the Italian side winning this evening’s first leg 2-1.

Reacting to United’s routine victory over Granada, Red Devils star Daniel James told MUTV: ‘It’s a massive win for us. We knew it was going to be hard coming here but to get that clean sheet was very important.

‘I think Marcus took his goal very well today and thankfully Bruno slotted in that penalty at the end.

‘Obviously, there’s still a second leg, we have to concentrate on that next week but the important thing for us now is to recover and get ready for Sunday.

‘We always knew it was going to be a tough game physically but we just had to match that today, we just had to make sure we did and then play our football.

‘That’s where the first goal has come from and then we’ve fought to the end and got that penalty.’

Solskjaer’s Manchester United now turn their attentions back to the Premier League and a meeting with Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham on Sunday.
