Frank Lebouef says it will take ‘something amazing’ for Chelsea to win the Champions League as he expressed his surprise at them being rated the second-favourites to lift the trophy.

Thomas Tuchel’s side have one foot in the semi-finals after a 2-0 away win against Porto in the quarter-finals, with Real Madrid or Liverpool awaiting them in the semi-finals.

Leboeuf’s three favourites, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, are in the other half of the draw, with PSG leading Bayern 3-2 on aggregate and City 2-1 up on Borussia Dortmund at the halfway mark.

Given Chelsea are in the most commanding position heading into the second leg of their quarter-final tie next week, it’s perhaps no surprise to see them marked up by bookmakers.

But Leboeuf was astonished to see them rated as the second favourites and thinks they are ‘far away’ from even considering such a triumph.

‘I am really [shocked],’ Leboeuf told ESPN. ‘We talked with Jurgen Klinsmann about the fact that Bayern Munich is not done yet. I know the bookies are wrong.

‘You can say you have a feeling but you can’t say Chelsea have a chance to win the Champions League, you have to be far away from really thinking that.

‘Of course, in one game you don’t know what can happen and it happened for them when they played Bayern Munich in 2012, playing the final in Munich. It’s possible.

‘But they will have to be more consistent up front, stronger in the middle of the park to just hope of winning something.

‘Manchester City, Bayern Munich, PSG – I think are still better right now than Chelsea.

‘It will be a lot of circumstances to see Chelsea getting the trophy. I wish them, I really wish them but it will be really something amazing.’
