Dortmund forward Erling Haaland wants to become the highest paid player in Premier League history this summer as the race heats up to sign the Norwegian superstar.

The 20-year-old is expected to leave the Bundesliga giants this summer, with Dortmund set to make a £130million profit on the striker they signed for just £20m less than 16 months ago.

Haaland has proven himself as one of the deadliest strikers in world football during his short stint in Germany, scoring 49 goals in 39 games for Edin Terzic’s side.

Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are all interested in signing Haaland this summer, while the Norwegian is also attracting interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

But any move for Haaland could cost a total of £300m over the duration of the striker’s contract, with the Sun claiming Mino Raiola is demanding around £600,000-a-week for his client’s services.

Haaland has the pick of Europe’s elite and knows that his strong position puts him in place to demand what would be record wages for a Premier League player.

Alexis Sanchez, the current record holder, earned close to £500,000-a-week at Old Trafford once bonuses were taken into account but Haaland’s wages would top that.

A clause in Haaland’s contract means he’s available for around £62m in 2022 but it’s expected that Dortmund will sell this summer in order to obtain a larger fee.

United and City have both shown interest in Tottenham forward Harry Kane but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is famously difficult to deal with and the club would likely demand in excess of £150m for the England skipper.

At 27 years of age, Kane is in the peak of his career but Haaland offers the type of longevity that would make paying a British transfer record more palatable.
