Arsenal midfielder Dani Ceballos has moved quickly to deny claims he was involved in a training session fight with team-mate David Luiz.

Reports on Thursday afternoon claimed Luiz struck Ceballos after the tensions boiled over during a training match earlier this week.

The report claimed the pair had to be separated and were sent home after Luiz hit Ceballos on the nose after he took exception at a tackle from the midfielder. Luiz reportedly drew blood from the Spaniard, who was grounded by the hit.

The pair were reportedly sent home from training and Mikel Arteta has taken strict action in the past with the likes of Mesut Ozil and Matteo Guendouzi for misdemeanours, raising the possibility that they could be left out for this weekend’s clash against Leeds United.

However, Ceballos took to Twitter after reports of the incident started to circulate and simply commented ‘fake’ on a link to the report.

Arteta is due to take his pre-match press conference for the trip to Wales on Friday morning and he will be quizzed about the incident.

Ceballos is spending his second season on loan at Arsenal from Real Madrid, while Luiz joined the Gunners in 2019 from London rivals Chelsea.

Earlier in the season, the notoriously feisty Ceballos clashed with young Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah ahead of a Premier League match against Fulham. Arteta later played down the incident but admitted he was ‘surprised’ to see two of his players scrapping during a warm-up.
