Branislav Ivanovic has completed a move to West Brom and the Chelsea legend insists he still has plenty of ambition and intends to be a Premier League hit again at 36-years-old.

The defender has returned to the Premier League after three-and-a-half years at Zenit St Petersburg, having spent nine thoroughly successful years at Chelsea.

He won three Premier League titles, the Champions League, Europa League, three FA Cups and one League Cup during his time at Stamford Bridge, racking up 377 appearances for the club.

With 105 caps for Serbia to his name, Ivanovic is as experienced as they come, but also past his best, with his 37th birthday coming around in February.

However, he is raring to get going after signing a one-year contract at West Brom and is not at the Hawthorns to wind down his career.

‘The Premier League is the best league in the world,’ he told West Brom’s official website. ‘I need to challenge myself and I am ready for the challenge. I am really happy to be back playing in the Premier League.

‘I hope I am going to be successful here. I have a lot of ambition and I want to prove a lot of things. I will give everything for the team.’

The Baggies returned to the Premier League in disappointing fashion on Sunday, losing 3-0 to Leicester City at the Hawthorns and manager Slaven Bilic is delighted to have a high-quality reinforcement to his defence.

‘He’s a great addition for us, a team who are newly promoted in the Premier League. He ticks all the boxes for us,’ said the manager.

‘He’s done everything in his career – it’s been magnificent. We’re delighted. He adds quality and experience on the pitch and off the pitch.

‘So it is not only him, it is him plus the influence he will have on not just defenders but the whole team around him. That’s why we targeted him as one of our prime targets. It’s a great signing for us.’
