Carl Frampton will aim to become Ireland’s first three-weight world champion when he takes on Jemel Herring for the WBO super-featherweight title in Dubai this evening.

‘The Jackal’ has won world title gold at super-bantamweight and featherweight and at 34, is hoping to summon another memorable performance to create history against the American.

But Herring, who will boast a sizeable height and reach advantage, has not lost since 2017 and could end Frampton’s career tonight – with the Belfast fighter revealing this week he will retire from the sport if he comes up short.

Victory however will extend a marvellous professional career and set up at least one more big night at Windsor Park – with Shakur Stevenson, the mandatory challenger for the WBO belt, possibly lying in wait later this year.

Frampton vs Herring TV channel

Frampton vs Herring is available on free-to-air television on Saturday 4 April with Channel 5 securing broadcast rights for the world title fights.
